The legal battle surrounding the alleged robbery at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Limpopo has taken another turn, as the court declined a request to dismiss the case against the accused.

At the Modimolle Regional Court, Imanuwela David, alongside siblings Froliana Joseph and Ndilinasho Joseph, face charges linked to an alleged break-in at the well-known Phala Phala farm, where about $580,000 in cash was reportedly stolen.

After the prosecution closed its case, the trio applied for a discharge under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Act, arguing that the State’s evidence was weak and largely circumstantial. Their legal team maintained that there was not enough proof to justify continuing the trial.

However, Magistrate Peter Manthata ruled against them. In his decision, he stated that the evidence presented by the State was sufficient to require all three accused to answer to the charges.

This means the case will proceed, and the accused will now have the opportunity to present their defence as the trial continues.
