The Ten-member ActionSA Mayoral Governance Team for the City of Johannesburg was announced on Saturday in Soweto.

The party president, Herman Mashaba, announced with an opening statement reminding residents and party members of the Johannesburg City crisis.

” These committed residents have stepped forward to join our mission to fix the city,” said ActionSA President Herman Mashaba

Mashaba said the candidates understand that restoring the country’s economic hub requires far more than slogans and empty promises.

HERE ARE THE CANDIDATES AND THEIR PORTFOLIOS

1. TUMI SOLE _ Candidate for MMC Development Planning

Sole is a legal professional with over 15 years of experience in mining, metal, and media broadcasting.

He is one of the Mail and Guardian’s Top 100 Most Influential Young South Africans.

2. LEBO MOKOKA_ Candidate for MMC of Transport

Mokoka is a prominent politician, serving as ActionSA Johannesburg Regional Secretary and a City councilor.

3. MARCEL COUTRIERS _ Candidate for MMC of Public Safety

Coutriers is a causus leader for Actionsa in the City of Johannesburg. He is a former member of the SAPS with 22 years of service

4. NANDI NDABA_Candidate for MMC of Group Cooperative and Share Services

Ndaba is an admitted legal professional with the University of Witwatersrand

5. SARAH WISSLER_ Candidate for MMC of Health and Social Development

Wissiler is a former DA councilor of Ward 23 in the City of Johannesburg.

She joined ActionSA in 2021 as the party’s local government elections campaign team.

6. TSHEPO MASHIANE _ Candidate for MMC of Sports, Arts and Culture

Mashiane is a South African Arts and Culture professional who leads the Creatives Congress Movement ( CCM)

7. MPUMI EDWARD_ Candidate for MMC of Finance

Edward is serving as the Chairperson of the Section 79 Oversight Committee of Finance in the City of Johannesburg

8. ZANDILE DABULA_ Candidate for MMC of Human Settlements

Dabula is an activist and former president of Operational Dudula, a nationalist and anti_ immigration movement

9. BOTSANG MODIMEWAME_ Candidate for MMC of Economic Development

Modimewame is a public speaker and a political analyst

10. Dr. BONGANI MABIZELA _ Candidate for MMC of Environment and Infrastructure Services

Dr. Mabizela is a civil engineer and businessman.

He holds a PhD. in Leadership and Business Management with Logos University International (UniLogos)

The institution is an international distance learning institution that is incorporated in the United States and authorized in France

Each member has been assigned a portfolio aligned to the city’s existing departments and earmarked to compete with the ANC, DA, EFF, and Mayibuye Afika candidates on 04 November 2026.

ActionSA rejects the appointment of their Ekurhuleni Mayoral candidate and Moja Love’s Sizok’,thola presenter Xolani Kuumalo as the new MMC for Community Services And By-Law Enforcement In Ekurhuleni municipality.

Khumalo was announced to take over the new position after a reshuffling that was made by Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza on Tuesday night.

In a statement issued by the party’s leader Herman Mashaba, he said ActionSA categorically distances itself from a false media statement currently circulating, which purports changes to the Mayoral Executive in Ekurhuleni.

“This statement is entirely fabricated and does not reflect any engagement or agreement involving ActionSA. Following repeated and unsuccessful attempts by Mayor Xhakaza to solicit ActionSA’s participation in his administration, I have consistently made it clear that we will not join his failing government and have rejected every personal and formal approach made to us.

“Our position has been very clear on every occasion that we will not lend credibility to an administration that has overseen the lawless and deterioration of service delivery that continues to cripple the city,” he said.

Mashaba said the people of Ekurhuleni are tired of dysfunction, lawlessness and the collapse of basic municipal services.

“ActionSA’s focus remains on restoring governance, cleaning out corruption, restoring the rule of law and fixing the fundamentals of service delivery. These are priorities we intend to implement when we secure a clear mandate from residents in the upcoming local government elections.

“I urge the public and the media to disregard the fabricated statement and to verify information through ActionSA’s official communication platforms,” he said.
