]]> The murder case involving four accused linked to the killing of a soldier from Kurhula Village has been postponed once again, with the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court expected to deliver a bail judgment later this month.
The accused, Daniel Dan Lubisi, Grace Nomthandaza Mazibuko, Sam Masangu, and Amos Bvuma, appeared in court on 6 and 7 May 2026.
Police allege that the 54-year-old soldier was murdered in a planned hit allegedly orchestrated by people close to him.
Investigators claim Lubisi was the gunman and acted with assistance from Bvuma, while Mazibuko, who is the soldier’s wife, and Masangu allegedly coordinated the killing.
The victim was shot and killed on 28 May 2025 while travelling to work.
During arrests carried out on 18 November 2025, police reportedly recovered a firearm believed to be the murder weapon, along with 14 rounds of ammunition.
Lubisi has since abandoned his bail application, while Mazibuko and Masangu are continuing with their bid to be released on bail.
The court also heard that the [Department of Home Affairs] blocked Bvuma’s identity document following allegations that it had been fraudulently obtained.
The investigating officer concluded testimony on 6 May 2026, while defence lawyers addressed the court on 7 May 2026 ahead of the pending bail ruling.
The matter was postponed to 22 May 2026 for judgment on the bail application.
