PODCASTER NGIZWE MCHUNU’S LAWYERS DEMAND RETRACTION AND PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM EFF PARLIAMENT MEMBER HLENGIWE MKHALIPHI

Following his recent public spat with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema, podcaster Ngizwe Mchunu has declared war against another EFF member of parliament, Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi.

Mchunu, who is famously known as “Mlando”, has instructed his lawyers, Zuma Attorneys, to send a letter demanding a retraction and a public apology from Mkhaliphi.

Mchunu has given Mkhaliphi seven days to comply with his demands and apologise.

MDN News has seen the letter sent to Mkhaliphi.

“Please be advised that we act for and on behalf of Mr Ngizwe Mlando Mchunu, hereinafter referred to as ‘our client’. Our instructions are that, on or about the 19th of May 2026, you unlawfully and intentionally made a statement during a live interview on national television (SABC News).

During the said interview, you alleged that our Client is ‘being paid by white monopoly capitalists to disrupt the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)’.

“It is our instructions that you persisted with the said allegation, yet refused and/or failed to provide the news reporter with the names of the said funders. The aforesaid statements were disseminated publicly, published to a wide audience, and shared through social media platforms, or alternatively, were reasonably capable of publication,” the letter reads.

The letter further reads:

“We hold instructions that these allegations made against our client imply that he is dishonest, politically compromised, and acting as an agent of undisclosed interests. They imply he lacks integrity, is motivated by financial inducement from so-called ‘white monopoly capitalists’, and is allegedly involved in a coordinated plan to collapse the EFF.”
Mchunu is no stranger to controversy.

In April 2026, the former Ukhozi FM presenter publicly accused EFF leader Julius Malema of receiving an R60 million bribe from Nigerian drug dealers in exchange for political protection.

Malema challenged Mchunu to provide evidence, which Mchunu failed to produce. Malema subsequently slapped him with an R1 million defamation lawsuit.
In May 2026, the North Gauteng High Court finalised an interim interdict against Mchunu.

The court ordered him to stop defaming Malema, retract his remarks, issue an apology, and pay punitive legal costs. Despite the court order, Mchunu defiantly stated that he would not pay a single cent.

EFF Calls For Court Chief Justice Mandisa Maya To Condemn Attacks Of South Africa Judiciary By Newly Appointed US Ambassador Leo Brent Bozell lll

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) calls on Constitutional Court Chief Justice Mandisa Maya to condemn the attacks on the South African judiciary by newly appointed US Ambassador to South Africa, Leo Brent Bozell III.

Bozell has joined an irresponsible right-wing chorus in South Africa which has undermined judgements by the Equality Court, the Supreme Court of Appeals and the Constitutional Court which have found and affirmed that the liberation chant “Kill The Boer, Kill The Farmer” constitutes free speech.

EFF National Spokesperson Sinawo Thambo said it was these courts that affirmed that the chant should not be interpreted literally, and forms part of the tradition and history of struggle against oppression in our country.

“It is therefore dangerous that right-wing racist groups in South Africa continue to undermine our judiciary by questioning and lobbying foreign governments on a judicial matter, which the highest court in our land has made a determination on. It is even more dangerous when the talking-points of these fringe and Boeremag associations are adopted by a senior diplomat and Ambassador to our country from the USA,” he said.

Thambo said Bozell’s comments are a direct insult to South Africa’s judicial system, and constitute a concerning precedent of a foreign nation disregarding the integrity and standing of our courts.

“It is only following the EFF highlighting that Bozell has undermined our judiciary, that he saw it fit to issue a communication stating that he made his disrespectful comments against our judiciary in his personal capacity.The EFF dismisses this with the contempt it deserves, because Bozell spoke at length about how he was expressing the supposed impatience of the Donald Trump administration with South Africa, regarding their numerous requests to South Africa that undermine our sovereignty.

“Bozell spoke about the USA’s requests for legislative changes and a shift in foreign policy in South Africa, when he made the comment that he does not care what our courts determination was in relation to “Kill The Boer, Kill The Farmer”. In light of the context in which he made his comments, wherein he threatened disinvestment from South Africa should the US’s requests not be adhered to, the EFF calls on Chief Justice Mandisa Maya to speak clearly in defence of our judiciary against coercion and threats by a foreign government through its most senior diplomat,” he said.

Thambo further said : “If the US Ambassador is not called into order for aligning threats of disinvestment with a disregard of our courts and legislation, this raises a concern on whether this method of coercion will not be used to intimidate our courts and judges into making rulings that align with the domestic and foreign policy demands of the USA.The Chief Justice therefore has a duty to reaffirm the independence of our judiciary.”

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) has moved to demarche United States Ambassador to South Africa Leo Brent Bozell III.

The move comes after Bozell expressed his belief that ‘Kill the Boer’ is hate speech.

He made the remarks during his keynote speech at an event in Hermanus in the Western Cape.

On Wednesday, during a media briefing, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola said they welcome active public diplomacy and the strengthening of bilateral ties.

The MK Party Has Invited The KZN ANC To Discuss Possible Coalition Government

They say there are no permanent enemies in politics. This is the situation between Umkhonto Wesizwe Party (MK Party) which has written to the African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General (SG) Fikile Mbalula and the ANC KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Convener Jeff Radebe and Coordinator Mike Mabuyakhulu to invite them into discussion about a possible coalition government.

In a statement released late on Monday the MK Party, it has been engaged in meetings with the National Freedom Party (NFP) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to discuss the constitution of a new coalition government in KZN.

“These discussions are ongoing and form part of the efforts to establish a stable, inclusive and effective governance framework for the province. In the spirit of cooperation and inclusive political engagement, we hereby formally invite the African National Congress (ANC) to participate in these discussions. The proposed date for the next engagement is 7 March 2026, with the time and venue to be confirmed in due course.

“We would appreciate confirmation of your delegation and availability at your earliest convenience. We trust that your participation will add meaningful value to the process. We look forward to your positive response and to a constructive engagement in the interests of the people of KwaZulu-Natal,” the statement read.

Sunday Tribune reported that the MKP wanted to push for the second motion of no confidence against Inkatha Freedom Party Premier Thami Ntuli.

The former president Jacob Zuma-led party tabled the first motion against the Cabinet in December, but it fell flat as the majority of the MPLs voted against it.

The MKP, which had the backing of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), had placed its hope on the National Freedom Party’s (NFP) only seat to get numbers to vote in favour of the motion.

However, the NFP’s only MPL, Mbali Shinga, who is the Social Development MEC in the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU), voted against it.

Shinga is currently facing disciplinary action for defying the party’s instruction to step out of the GPU and to also vote for the motion. If she is found guilty, her membership in the party could be terminated.

The NFP has in the past written a letter to the Speaker of the provincial legislature, Nontembeko Boyce, requesting Shinga’s removal from the MEC position, but Boyce had rejected the request, saying Shinga’s suspension from her party did not meet the constitutional and legal threshold for removal as she’s still a member of the party.

Drama Unfolded As Controversial Businessman Paul O’Sullivan Walked Out On Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee

Drama unfolded at the Ad Hoc Committee when controversial Forensic Investigator, Paul O’Sullivan walked out claiming to be rushing for a flight to the dissatisfaction of MPs as he had not finished answering questions.

O’Sullivan said he “really needs to leave” after facing tough questions about his multiple passports and business interests.

Before the break, O’Sullivan had a heated argument with MK Party MP David Skosana who grilled him over his links as spy for the United Kingdom (UK).

At the centre of the confrontation of all the drama was O’Sullivan’s UK military number: 24302818.

Skhosana pressed him on whether the number was linked to UK military intelligence service between 1972 and 1977.

“I do not have an “army number. I do not know what the MP is referring to. I have never been a spy. I have served South Africa “faithfully for 36 years. If i’m going to be called a spy again, I would stop answering questions,” he said.

This was the first warning shot from O’Sullivan to MP’s that if they continued cornering, he was going walk out.

Indeed few minutes later, the MP’s continued grilling O’Sullivan about his links with international crime syndicates.

He flatly denied any involvement in criminal networks.

EFF leader Julius Malema firmly stated: “He is not going to leave!” No witness can walk out without being formally excused by the chairperson,” he said.

MK Party Skhosana became visibly angry during the exchange, he stood up and shouted as he attempted to leave, but O’Sullivan ignored the confrontation and walked out of the venue.

“You’re not going anywhere. No one has authorised you to leave the chamber,” he argued as he tried to stop at the exit door.

After O’Sullivan’s walked out, several MP’s attacked Ashley Sauls who haf earlier on called him a hero.

“Mr O’Sullivan, you are a hero. Thank you so much for fighting corruption in this country.” Later on Sauls conceded that O’Sullivan was a hero with holes.

Former MK Party MP Collen Makhubela Joins Power FM Radio As Power FM Announces Changes To Their Line-up

Power FM radio station has announced that former Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) Member of Parliament (MP) Collen Makhubela has joined their station.

Makhubela joins Power FM shortly after it was recently left by Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlonzi who resigned from the station to join Thabo Mbeki Foundation.

In a statement released, Power FM said it welcomes Makhubela. Makhubela’s contract with Power FM will officially begin on 1 March.

This development comes after the station recently lost broadcaster Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, who had also resigned from Parliament — previously serving under the EFF before joining the station

The Gauteng based commercial talk station Power FM 98.7 further announced new line-up changes to its programming.

Following Ndlozi’s departure from the station, City Press editor-in-chief Mondli Makhwanya will succeed him and host Power Talk between 09:00-12:00 weekdays.

Former member of Parliament and speaker Collen Makhubela will host Power Perspective weeknights between 20:00-00:00.

Young and vibrant Wits University Representative council President Kefentse Mkhari will host Power Zone from midnight till 3 am.

Archivist, human rights advocate and former executive of Nelson Mandela Foundation Sello Hatang will host Power Weekend on Sundays between 09:00-12:00

Renowned actress and media personality Lerato Mvelase will host Power Perspective The Sunday edition from 21:00-00:00

Following in her father’s footsteps is Clementine Mabena daughter of the late radio legend Bob Mabena. She will host Power Weekend from 18:00-22:00. The rest of the line up remains unchanged.

The Chairperson of National Council Of Provinces (NCOP) Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane refused to recognise former President and MK Party leader Jacob Zuma, who is also in attendance at the 2026 State Of Nation’s Address (SONA) debate in Cape Town on Tuesday.

Many were surpised when EFF MP Leigh-Ann Mathys urged Mtshweni-Tsipane to revisit the House rules after she declined to recognise former President Jacob Zuma, who is also attending the 2026 SONA debate.

“House chair, I think you must go back and read the rules correctly regarssless of how you feel of former President Zuma, we aknowldged state presidency here in this house. You need to go to your rules, you cannot say that there is no provision to aknowledge the former state president. It’s not true.

“Whether you like former President Zuma or not, whether he is part of your party l, doesn’t have membership, its immaterial. He was once upon a time a state president. Do the right thing. You even acknowledged De Klerk, the whole murderer who is roasting now in hell,” she argued.

Mtshweni-Tsipane later interjected and said she has made a ruling on this matter and that the proceedings must continue.

Mathys did not back down as she argued that Mtshweni-Tsipane must do the right thing whether she did not like Zuma.

“Which rules did you read to say that? Can you refer us to the rule that says you must not acknowledge the former state president. You can’t just rule just out of your head. This is not the ANC NEC meeting. We are in parliament and there rules here,” she argued.

“Before I call upon the next speaker, I would like to take this opportunity and acknowledge the presence of former Republic of South Africa President Jacob Zuma. He is here with us today,” she said.

Drama Unfolded During The Testimony Of Controversial Forensic Investigator Paul O’Sullivan When He Appeared Before Parliament Ad Hoc Committee

Drama unfolded at the beginning testimony of controversial Forensic Investigator Paul O’Sullivan when he appeared before the Parliament Ad Hoc Committee.

O’Sullivan’s affidavit contained a condition on paragraph 3 where he stated that he will not answer anything beyond 1990.

This angered most of the honourable members from Umkhonto Wesizwe Party, Economic Freedom Fighters and ActionSA.

O’Sullivan told the AdHocCommittee he won’t answer questions about events before 1990 because of serious personal security concerns, citing multiple attempts on his life.

He argued that providing such information could expose personal details and put him and his family at risk, which he is entitled to protect.

“I made it clear that I’m not going to be providing any of that information, it’s just not going to be advanced and we can sit here all day and you can ask me a million questions I will not provide that information,’ he said.

Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader Julius Malema was the first one to object the condition put forward by O’Sullivan.

“He can’t say to us we can’t ask him anything about things that happened before 90 what if the business you are talking about started engaging in wrongdoing before 1990,” he said.

MKP David Skosana also jumped in and question his background.

“This affidavit does not have an introduction. We don’t know the man seating before. There is nothing talking about where he was born, where he grew up and the schools he went to. Nothing. Even you chair, you don’t know this man,” he said.

ActionSA’s Dereleen James said: “Every witness that has come before us had a CV. Where is the CV of the witness? He can’t just come here and tell us to dance to his tune.”
