]]>Former Mzansi Magic’s Umkhokha: The Curvy Actress Mbaliyezwe Ngiba has shared controversial details of how she was bullied by a senior actor in the now defunct drama series.
Mbali who played the role of Zodwa shared the news during her interview with on Engineer Your Life Podcaster Lungelo KM in an episode that will be aired on Friday.
She said there’s no one who was bvllied by her Co actors like her, she details how after work she would sit in her car and just cry thinking of the treatment she’s getting.
“You know you get actors who will bully on set. I was bullied from that whilst it started until the end. I was bullied until it ended. It was really bad. It was really every single day. I would get home , park the car and cry. In the morning I have to wake up and go to work and smile. You do get those actors, that says she can’t act, she’s coming with Real Housewives tendencies. That time you can’t explain to them that you don’t like what they think you have,” she said.
Mbali further said she will find prominent actors having good relationships with people in higher places from the production and badmouthing her.
“If you only knew, I don’t like it. You get to work with people who know superiors and they will say bad things about you and the channel will be like we can’t work with person like you anymore, she will cause drama, she can’t work with other people. Because they are hearing what they are being told. They are not sitting you down and saying what happened so they can hear your side of the story and understand what happened and hear both sides of the story. There isn’t someone who has been hurt on set more than me,” she said.
Mbali is not new to controversy as during her time with the The Real Housewives of Durban, she trended for bullying a security guard and later apologized after a video showed her shouting at Hotel Skye in Sandton.
In the video, she criticized the guard’s low salary and education, saying “you do not even have matric” and “you are sleeping here because of us”.

]]>A prayer service for the embattled Police Minister Senzo Mchunu was held in Greyville Racecourse in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal(KZN) on Saturday.
The service was held in support of Mchunu, who has been on special leave since July, last year.
His leave emanates from allegations of interference in police activities and collusion with criminal elements.
The claims were made by the KZN police Commissioner Leuitenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi that resulted in the establishment of a judicial commission to probe them.

Mchunu is alleged to have authprized the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) in December 2024 without followign proper procedures.
Supporters and independent faith groups gathered to pray for his “deliverance” and strength during a period of intense scrutiny and political pressure.
This followed a similar gathering in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, in February 2026 which was hailed as a success by organizer Sipho Nathi Mafuyela.
Another prayer was previously held at Mchunu’s home in eMpangeni, KZN.
Organizers state the prayers are meant to support Mchunu, who is “embattled” and on special leave, amid claims that the allegations against him are unfounded.
Spokesperson Sithembiso Mshengu confirmed that while Mchunu is aware of the services, they are not officially sanctioned by him but are conducted independently.
At the center of a probe by the Madlanga Commission and a Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee is the allegations that he unilaterally disbanded the KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) in December 2024.
The situation led to intense political scrutiny, including calls from opposition parties for his dismissal and accusations of potential criminal implications.
The prayers have sparked mixed reactions, with some supporters rallying behind him while others argue that the focus should be on accountability and the truth.
Speaking to the attendees, controversial Podcast And Chill Network Co-Presenter Ngizwe Mchunu said he will never turn his back agaunst his own.
“I recieved a call informing me that there was a prayer for one of our own Senzo Mchunu about the problems he is facing. Pretenders will forever be there even in the bible they were there before us. This is a fight against the Zulu nation. If you wajt to fight Zulu’s , you have to divide them. Whether you are a Christian or not, you have to take this message, the day of Sabaath means life so when Sabaath is no longer bringing life than I don’t know what does it mean.
“I don’t know him to be scandalous, I’m here to speak about my brother Senzo. To speak about what I know about him, if you have a problem with you must you must “voetsek”. I’m here to tell the history of Senzo Mchunu. He was the head of the province and there was never a time where there were scandalous stories about him. In 2004 the ANC ruled the province under his organusation,” he said.
Mchunu further said: “I’m not here to campaign for him. For the ANC to rule the province , for Jacob Zuma (former South African President) to win the Polokwane Conference, it was Senzo Mchunu who had the numbers. It was Senzo Mchunu who played the huge role for Zuma to become the President. Enemy is a very important item on earth. I don’t care who says what, but I want to tell you that there is no dustin for a human being. You stick with your brother through thick and thin. That is a power of life , that is a power of wisdom, that is a power of family,” he said.
Sakhile Shezi, the founder of Prayer For Senzo Mchunu.said that he had a vision that he must form a group to start a prayer line for Mchunu.
“It just a vision that came to me that I must start a prayer line. It then happened dawned on me that we must pray for Senzo Mchunu and his family. We have to respect and applaud President Cyril Ramaphosa for establishing the Ad hoc Committee and the Madlanga Committee, we will have to respect the outcomes of both Madlanga and Adhoc Committee,” he said while explaining how the prayer line was formed.

A prayer service for the embattled Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is underway in Durban in KwaZulu Natal (KZN).
The service is held in support of Mchunu who has been on special leave since July last year.

This is the third prayer for the embattled suspended Police Minister who was put on ice after he authorised the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) in December 31, 2024.

Before the Mpumalanga event, Mchunu’s spokesperson, Sithembiso Mshengu, said the minister was not involved in the logistical arrangements or funding of the prayer and would not attend.
“They did engage him on their initiative, and he felt there was nothing untoward, especially when faith groups hold such a prayer in his name as they may do with anyone in the republic or beyond,” he said.
The prayer comes as Mchunu faces mounting scrutiny.
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has accused Mchunu of wrongfully disbanding the SAPS political killings task team (PKTT).

Mchunu admitted to disbanding the PKTT, allegedly with the president’s approval, but acknowledged he did so without consulting national police commissioner Gen Fannie Masemola.
Evidence before the Madlanga commission has suggested the unit may have been shut down to benefit criminal syndicates that infiltrated the police.

Mchunu has also been accused of being associated with alleged criminal cartel kingpin Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala.
While several witnesses have implicated Mchunu in alleged wrongdoing before the commission, the Presidency has confirmed he was not implicated in the commission’s interim report.

The report has not yet been made public due to its interim status. A final report is expected to be released once proceedings conclude.

]]>
Thousands of Christians from across KwaZulu‑Natal and beyond are marching through the streets of Durban today in a major demonstration for religious freedom and against proposed regulatory measures affecting churches.

Organised by the South African Church Defenders (SACD), the march began this morning from King Dinuzulu Park and is making its way toward City Hall.
Participants, representing a range of denominations, say they are exercising their constitutional right to worship freely and are opposed to moves they see as state overreach into church affairs.
The protest comes amid a heated national debate over the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) and its establishment of a Section 22 Committee that some church leaders claim could lead to government regulation of religious organisations potentially affecting how churches operate internally.
Critics argue the committee undermines religious autonomy guaranteed under the Constitution’s protections for freedom of religion.
Organisers insist the march is peaceful and lawful, with a memorandum to be handed over to the eThekwini Mayor’s office calling for clarity on regulatory proposals and respect for constitutional rights. They also reaffirm that existing laws should handle criminal conduct in religious spaces without creating new bureaucratic oversight.
Earlier engagements between religious leaders and Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs highlighted the importance of protecting both religious freedom and congregants from abuse but left some issues unresolved, fuelling today’s mobilisation.
City traffic has been affected in central Durban as marchers fill the streets with banners and chants defending freedom of worship. Police are on the scene to ensure public safety, and organisers have urged participants to remain peaceful throughout the event.

]]>The post Durban Residents Demand Urgent Help as Drug Encampments Take Over Their Street appeared first on MDNtv.
]]>Homeless individuals struggling with drug addiction have set up makeshift shelters right on the road and pavements outside their building, turning the spot into what feels like an open drug den.
Residents describe the scene as heartbreaking and frightening. The encampment has popped up after the municipality cleared similar setups from nearby vacant plots on Milton Road, Acorn Road, and Bentley Street—areas that were fenced off following clean-up operations. With those spots now blocked, the group moved to this pavement, close to a mini-bus taxi rank and two small cottages.
One resident, who asked not to be named, shared her daily fears: “From our balcony and windows, we see it all. They use drugs openly in front of us. We’re scared to leave for work or let our kids go to school because of possible harassment. They move like zombies, and the smell outside is terrible.”
A local businessman echoed the worry, explaining how it’s hurting his livelihood. “Customers avoid this road now because they’re afraid. There’s even a crèche just across the street—parents are terrified when dropping off their children. These people wander around looking for someone to rob. We depend on foot traffic from the taxi rank, but paying for extra security just isn’t worth it anymore.”
What makes the situation even more frustrating for locals is that this encampment is directly in view of the eThekwini Municipality’s own Urban Renewal Project Centre, home to the Inner-city Regeneration and Urban Management Programme (ITRUMP) offices.
The municipality says it has already cleared and fenced the vacant Douglas Lane property through its service departments. Officials add that metro police carry out regular operations to tackle unlawful occupation and keep the area safe. They’re also looking into more ways to secure empty land, though this depends on available budget.
Back in February 2026, eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba visited the long-troubled Che Guevara Road site (previously Moore Road) and promised a stronger, multi-department approach to homelessness—one built on compassion, family reconnection, access to social services, and real long-term support.
As part of those efforts, work continues on the new Sakhithemba Homeless Shelter in Illovo. The facility will offer life-skills training, substance abuse support, and programmes to help people rebuild their lives and reintegrate into the community with dignity.
For now, though, residents in Warwick Avenue continue to call for faster, more visible action on their doorstep.

The offences were committed in July 2023 at a tavern in the Inanda area in the North of Dbn in KZN.
NPA Regional Spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said that on the day of the incident, Ngubane was socialising at a tavern with friends while brandishing a firearm.
“He discharged the firearm outside the premises, injuring his hand in the process. He then re-entered the tavern seeking something to wipe the blood from his hand. At that moment, the deceased, Xolani Mkhize, entered the tavern.
“Ngubane removed Mkhize’s cap and attempted to wipe his own blood onto it, this led to an argument between the two men. Mkhize exited the tavern, but Ngubane, accompanied by a friend, followed him outside. Ngubane’s accomplice struck Mkhize on the head with a beer bottle, while Ngubane robbed him of his cellphone and fatally shot him. The two fled the scene,” she said.
Kara said Ngubane was arrested two months later in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
She said during the trial, Prosecutor Kaystree Ramsamujh led the testimonies of two eyewitnesses and presented CCTV footage capturing the incident.
“In aggravation of sentence, Ramsamujh submitted a Victim Impact Statement (VIS) compiled by Mkhize’s mother and facilitated by Court Preparation Officer Princess Mlangeni.
“In the statement, she described the devastating impact of her son’s death on the family. Mkhize was employed and the family’s breadwinner. She further expressed the family’s pain at Ngubane’s lack of remorse.
“Ngubane was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 15 years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, and 15 years’ imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm. The court ordered that he serve an effective sentence of life imprisonment and declared him unfit to possess a firearm,” she said.

Her return comes after weeks in the ICU recovering from burn injuries linked to an incident that unfolded during a heated confrontation with her boyfriend.

The situation escalated on 9 January 2026 in Umlazi in the South if Durban in KZN where she suffered burnt wounds.
According to police reports and multiple news outlets, the conflict began when Nenezane accused her boyfriend of physically assaulting her.
She had previously opened several cases against him, claiming that authorities were slow to act. Her social media posts about the alleged abuse went viral, drawing national attention and sparking public outrage.
“Dear friends and family. It feels truly surreal to be writing this, but my heart is overflowing with gratitude and excitement as I announce my official return to work on March 1st 2026. As many of you know, I’ve been away, navigating a challenging recovery from an injury that took me away from what I love doing most working with all of you.
“This past while has been a profound journey, both physically and emotionally. There were days that felt incredibly long and moments filled with uncertainty. But through it all, one thing shone brighter than anything else: your unwavering support. Every single message, every WhatsApp, every phone call they weren’t just notifications; they were lifelines. They were tangible reminders of your kindness, your care, and the incredible community I’m so privileged to be a part of,” she wrote.
Nenezane said she was counting down the days until she can reconnect, dive back in, and continue our work together.
“Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart, for everything. I can’t wait to see you all soon,” she wrote.
Police said Nenezane suffered burn wounds while allegedly setting her boyfriend’s car alight during an Instagram Live session.
The vehicle burned completely, and she was rushed to hospital, where she spent days under close observation in the ICU.
Police later confirmed that she would face counter‑charges of assault and malicious damage to property once discharged.
Throughout her recovery, Nenezane remained mostly silent, but her supporters did not. Celebrities, activists, and ordinary South Africans rallied behind her, calling for stronger action against gender‑based violence.

Now, after weeks of physical and emotional healing, Nenezane has announced her return to work.
She described the journey as overwhelming and said the support she received kept her going. She expressed gratitude for every message and call, saying they reminded her that she was not alone.
Her comeback marks a moment of rebuilding. While investigations continue and legal matters remain unresolved, she is choosing to reclaim her space, her clients, and her sense of normalcy. For many who have followed her story, her return is a sign of resilience after a painful and public ordeal.
