Former President Donald Trump, posting under the @POTUS handle in what appears to be a satirical or hypothetical message, responded to recent statements from Iran about potential strikes. In his post, Trump noted that Iran has threatened to launch a significant attack today, claiming it would be the hardest they’ve ever faced.

He strongly advised against it, emphasizing that if Iran proceeds, the United States would respond with overwhelming power unlike anything seen before.

A former Florida police chief has shared details of a 2006 phone call from Donald Trump, where the future president reportedly said that “everyone” was aware of Jeffrey Epstein’s troubling actions.

The call came after local authorities began investigating Epstein. Trump allegedly expressed relief that the investigation was underway, noting that Epstein had been barred from his Mar-a-Lago club and describing him as “disgusting.” He also mentioned that people in New York were familiar with Epstein’s reputation.

Trump reportedly referred to Ghislaine Maxwell as Epstein’s key associate, calling her “evil” and urging focus on her role. Maxwell was later convicted for recruiting underage girls for Epstein.

The chief recalled Trump saying he had encountered Epstein with teenagers and quickly distanced himself. Trump was among the first to reach out when news of the investigation broke.

The 2006 probe into Epstein involved allegations of sexual exploitation of minors. It eventually led to a federal plea deal in 2008 that shielded Epstein from harsher penalties.

Trump has long maintained he ended his association with Epstein around 2004 after a dispute over staff poaching at Mar-a-Lago. He has denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes prior to cutting ties.

The two had socialized in the 1990s, appearing in photos together, but Trump insists he was unaware of any illegal activities.

Recent developments include Maxwell’s virtual testimony before a congressional committee, where she invoked her right to remain silent on multiple questions. Her legal team indicated she might speak if granted clemency.

Trump has stated he hasn’t considered pardoning Maxwell.

Donald Trump has triggered a wave of anger in the UK after claiming that Nato troops stayed away from the front lines during the war in Afghanistan, a remark that many British politicians, veterans, and grieving families have described as deeply offensive and untrue.

Speaking during a television interview, the former US president suggested that America’s allies only played a limited role in the conflict and questioned whether Nato would come to the US’s defence if it were ever under threat. His comments have been widely criticised for dismissing the sacrifices made by allied forces, particularly British troops.

UK government minister Stephen Kinnock said he was disappointed by the remarks, stressing that they bore no resemblance to reality. He said British soldiers had repeatedly put their lives on the line alongside US forces and deserved respect, not dismissal.

The comments also struck a painful chord with families who lost loved ones or whose relatives were permanently injured in the conflict. The mother of Ben Parkinson, a British soldier who was severely wounded in Afghanistan, described Trump’s words as insulting and upsetting. She said the suggestion that allied troops were not on the front line ignored the real dangers they faced daily, including roadside bombs and direct combat with Taliban fighters.

Another grieving mother, whose teenage son was killed by a bomb blast while serving in Afghanistan, said Trump’s remarks reopened wounds that families continue to live with years after the war. She emphasised that British troops were very much on the front line and paid the ultimate price for their service.

The UK joined the US-led war in Afghanistan in 2001 after the September 11 attacks, following the activation of Nato’s collective defence agreement. Over the 20-year conflict, 457 British service personnel were killed, making the UK the second-most affected country after the United States.

Political leaders across party lines have condemned Trump’s comments. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch described them as outright nonsense, saying British, Canadian, and other Nato troops fought and died alongside American forces for two decades. Several MPs who served in Afghanistan themselves echoed this view, calling the remarks disrespectful to fallen soldiers and their families.

Labour MP Emily Thornberry said the comments were more than a simple mistake and amounted to an insult to those who lost their lives. She added that the UK had consistently stood by the US when called upon and accused Trump of undermining both Britain and the Nato alliance.

Senior figures from other political parties also weighed in, with Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey questioning how anyone could dismiss the sacrifices made by allied troops. Former military officers now serving in Parliament said Trump’s claims did not reflect the reality experienced on the ground.

Criticism was not limited to the UK. European officials also rejected Trump’s statements, pointing out that European forces shed blood in Afghanistan in direct support of US operations. They warned that repeating such claims distorted history and disrespected the shared sacrifices made by Nato members.

Despite the backlash, Trump has continued to question Nato’s value, reigniting long-standing concerns among allies about the future of the alliance and the tone of US leadership.

The war in Afghanistan began in 2001 with the goal of removing the Taliban and dismantling al-Qaeda following the 9/11 attacks. When international forces withdrew in 2021, more than 3,500 coalition soldiers had been killed, the majority of them American, with Britain suffering the second-highest number of fatalities.

For many in the UK, Trump’s comments have reopened painful memories and reinforced the belief that the sacrifices made by British troops should never be questioned or forgotten.

The post Outrage Erupts: European Leaders Slam Trump’s Tariff Threats Over Greenland Push appeared first on MDNtv.

]]>
European leaders are firing back hard at President Donald Trump’s latest move—threatening tariffs on several allies unless they back his wild idea to buy Greenland. It’s sparked protests, emergency meetings, and a whole lot of tension across the Atlantic.

Trump dropped the bombshell on his social media, saying he’d slap a 10% tariff on goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland starting February 1st. And if no deal happens for the U.S. to take over Greenland? That could jump to 25% by June. He claims it’s all about global security, calling the game “dangerous” for the planet’s safety.

But folks aren’t buying it. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called it “completely wrong,” especially since these countries are NATO allies working together on security. French President Emmanuel Macron labeled the threats “unacceptable,” and Sweden’s PM Ulf Kristersson said straight up, “We won’t let ourselves be blackmailed.” They’re all teaming up for talks to figure out a united response.

The EU jumped into action, calling an emergency meeting in Brussels for Sunday evening with ambassadors from all 27 countries. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen posted that territorial integrity is non-negotiable and tariffs like this could wreck transatlantic ties and start a bad spiral. Foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas pointed out that this kind of division is exactly what China and Russia would love to see.

Denmark’s foreign minister was caught off guard, saying the threat was a total surprise. Even in Germany, a key politician said this messes with a recent EU-US trade deal, and they’re pausing parts of it until things cool down.

On the ground, thousands hit the streets in Greenland and Denmark over the weekend to protest any U.S. takeover. In Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, people waved flags and chanted for self-determination, with signs like “Greenland is not for sale” and “We shape our future.” Even Greenland’s prime minister joined in. In Copenhagen, crowds demanded respect for Greenland’s rights.

Why all the fuss over Greenland? It’s a huge, icy island with tons of resources, sitting right between North America and the Arctic—perfect for radar systems, missile warnings, and keeping an eye on ships. Trump says the U.S. needs it for security, and he’s not ruling out force if talks fail. He’s pushed this before, saying it’d be done “the easy way or the hard way.”

But Greenlanders overwhelmingly say no—polls show about 85% oppose joining the U.S. European countries have sent a few troops there for a “reconnaissance mission” to show support, arguing Arctic security should be a shared NATO thing, not a solo U.S. grab.

Back in the U.S., some lawmakers are pushing back too, calling the tariffs illegal and absurd, saying Trump’s creating a fake crisis while ignoring real issues like affordability for Americans. The U.S. ambassador to the UN argued Denmark can’t handle the region’s needs alone, and life there would be better under American control.

Trump’s set to face off with European leaders like von der Leyen and Macron at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week—talk about awkward timing. This escalation comes right after U.S. and Danish officials agreed to a working group to discuss the island’s future, which many thought would buy time and ease tensions. Instead, it’s ramped everything up.

It’s a reminder of how Trump loves using tariffs as a hammer to get his way, but this one’s hitting close allies and stirring up a storm that could shake global trade and alliances.

Things are heating up in Minneapolis right now, with the city on edge over massive protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. Officials say about 1,500 active-duty soldiers from the 11th Airborne Division in Alaska are ready to go if President Donald Trump decides to send them in—though no final call has been made yet.

This all stems from the tragic shooting on January 7, when ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good, a U.S. citizen, poet, writer, and mom of three (including a young child). She was acting as a legal observer monitoring ICE activity in her car when the incident happened—videos and reports show conflicting accounts, with ICE claiming she tried to run over agents, while eyewitnesses and local leaders dispute that, saying she was turning away. The shooting has sparked nationwide outrage, with vigils, marches, and calls for “Justice for Renee.”

Here are some powerful scenes from the protests across the country, showing the grief and determination of demonstrators:

These heartbreaking images capture the memorials and crowds demanding accountability.

Protests in Minneapolis have turned intense at times, with clashes involving tear gas, pepper balls, and arrests. A federal judge recently stepped in, limiting ICE tactics against peaceful protesters—no arrests or pepper spray for those just observing or monitoring. Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz has mobilized the state’s National Guard, urged everyone to stay peaceful, and criticized the heavy federal presence.

Trump has escalated things by threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act—an old law from 1807 that lets the president deploy active-duty military for domestic law enforcement in cases of rebellion or unrest. He posted on social media that if Minnesota leaders don’t stop what he calls “professional agitators” attacking “Patriots of ICE,” he’ll use it to end the “travesty.” A second shooting last week, where an agent wounded a man during an arrest attempt, only added fuel to the fire.

More views from the streets of Minneapolis, where crowds have confronted federal agents and held signs for justice:

And on the military side, these troops from the 11th Airborne are prepped and waiting in Alaska:

Around 1,500 soldiers on standby for deployment to Minneapolis …

The situation feels like a powder keg—federal agents have flooded the area with thousands of personnel for what’s called “Operation Metro Surge,” while state and local officials push back hard, even suing to limit the operations. Everyone’s calling for calm, but with emotions running high after Renee’s death and these ongoing enforcement actions, it’s clear the divide is deep and the stakes are high.

Our hearts go out to Renee’s family and the Minneapolis community navigating this tough moment.

]]>
U.S. President Donald Trump has said he has been informed that Iranian authorities do not intend to carry out executions of protesters, amid growing international concern over Tehran’s violent crackdown on anti-government demonstrations.

Speaking from the White House, Trump said his administration had received information suggesting that killings had slowed and that there were no immediate plans to execute detained protesters. He added that the information came from what he described as reliable sources inside Iran, though he said he hoped the reports would prove to be accurate.

Despite the comments, Trump has not ruled out the possibility of U.S. military action, warning that Washington is closely watching Iran’s response to the ongoing protests.

As tensions escalate, several countries have taken precautionary measures. The United States and the United Kingdom have reduced the number of personnel at a major military base in Qatar, while Iran temporarily closed its airspace overnight, forcing airlines to reroute flights. Some embassies, including the British mission in Tehran, have suspended in-person operations and shifted to remote work.

The protests in Iran began in late December following the collapse of the national currency but quickly expanded into widespread demonstrations challenging the country’s clerical leadership. Authorities have responded with force, prompting fears that detained protesters could face harsh punishment, including the death penalty.

Trump previously warned of “very strong action” if Iran executed protesters, after reports surfaced that a young man arrested during demonstrations had been sentenced to death. His execution was later postponed, though officials reportedly provided limited information to his family.

Iranian officials have denied plans to carry out executions related to the protests. The country’s foreign minister publicly stated that executions were not being considered, while also issuing warnings to the United States against further military involvement.

Several European nations have advised their citizens to leave Iran, and aviation authorities have cautioned airlines against flying through Iranian airspace due to security concerns linked to the escalating situation.

Trump has also commented on the possibility of political change in Iran, suggesting that sustained protests could weaken the current government, while stopping short of openly backing any opposition figure.

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities have imposed widespread internet restrictions, making it difficult to confirm reports from inside the country. Human rights groups claim thousands of protesters have been killed since demonstrations began, though these figures remain difficult to independently verify.

As diplomatic pressure mounts and regional security measures tighten, the situation in Iran remains volatile, with uncertainty surrounding the fate of detainees and the government’s next steps.

The US military has launched a major round of airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIS) targets across Syria, hitting back hard after the group killed three Americans last month.

On Saturday (January 10, 2026), US Central Command (CENTCOM) carried out large-scale precision strikes as part of the ongoing Operation Hawkeye Strike. This operation was personally directed by President Donald Trump and kicked off in December 2025, right after an ISIS gunman ambushed US forces in Palmyra, killing two American soldiers from the Iowa National Guard and a civilian interpreter.

The latest wave involved more than 20 aircraft—including F-15E Strike Eagles, A-10 Warthogs, AC-130 gunships, MQ-9 drones, and Jordanian F-16s—firing over 90 precision-guided munitions at more than 35 ISIS targets. The goal? To dismantle terrorist infrastructure, stop future attacks, and keep American and partner forces safe in the region.

CENTCOM made the message crystal clear: “If you harm our warfighters, we will find you and kill you anywhere in the world, no matter how hard you try to evade justice.” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth echoed that resolve on social media, posting simply: “We will never forget, and never relent.”

This isn’t a new war—it’s straight-up retaliation and a strong signal of vengeance, as Hegseth described when the operation first launched. Earlier phases of Hawkeye Strike, starting December 19, saw US and Jordanian forces hammer more than 70 targets with over 100 munitions, plus follow-up raids that killed or captured nearly 25 ISIS members.

The strikes come at a tense time in Syria. The country is still fragile after rebel forces—led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham—overthrew Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, ending a brutal 13-year civil war. Ahmed al-Sharaa (also known as Abu Mohammed al-Jolani) now leads as president during this transitional period.

While ISIS has been greatly weakened over the years, the group still lingers, mostly launching attacks against Kurdish-led forces in the northeast.

Details on the exact locations of Saturday’s strikes and any casualties remain unclear for now.

Iranian protesters are pushing back hard against a brutal government crackdown, with fierce street clashes continuing into the night despite hundreds feared killed or injured over recent days and a near-total internet blackout cutting the country off from the world.

As of Sunday (January 11, 2026), demonstrations that started over two weeks ago—sparked by skyrocketing inflation and the collapsing rial currency—have exploded into nationwide calls to overthrow the clerical regime and end Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s rule. Protests have hit more than 100 cities and towns across every province, with crowds chanting “Death to Khamenei,” “This is the year of blood, Seyed Ali will fall,” and even pro-monarchy slogans like “Long live the Shah!”

Here are some powerful scenes from the streets showing the intensity of the clashes and the determination of the crowds:

The regime has responded with extreme force: security forces firing live ammunition, raiding hospitals to detain the wounded, and imposing the most severe internet shutdown in years—blocking not just global access but severely limiting the domestic network too. Experts say the only reliable way to get online now is through risky satellite options like Starlink, which could still be traced.

Hospital workers describe heartbreaking scenes—overwhelmed emergency rooms, young people (many in their 20s) shot in the head or chest, bodies piling up with no space in morgues. Rights groups and eyewitnesses report dozens of deaths, including children, with the toll climbing amid reports of hundreds wounded. Some security personnel have also been killed in the violence.

Here’s Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has dismissed the demonstrators as “vandals” trying to please US President Donald Trump and foreign powers:

Iran’s Supreme Leader Vows to ‘Not Back Down’ as Protests Swell …

The government’s attorney general warned that protesters could be charged as “enemies of God”—a capital offense. Khamenei has vowed no retreat, blaming external interference.

On the opposition side, exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi (son of the last Shah) has emerged as a key voice, urging people to keep protesting in large groups, seize city centers, and stay safe. He claims the regime is running short on loyal forces and has promised to return soon. He’s directly appealed to Trump for support, saying the US stands ready to help.

Here are a few images of Reza Pahlavi, who’s become a focal point for many calling for regime change:

Exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi rises during protests in Iran

US President Trump posted on social media that Iran is “looking at FREEDOM like never before” and that the USA “stands ready to help!!!” Reports suggest he’s been briefed on potential military options, though no imminent action is confirmed. US Senator Lindsey Graham has been vocal too, telling the regime their brutality “will not go unchallenged” and that “help is on the way.”

This is the biggest challenge to the Islamic Republic since the 1979 revolution—or at least since the massive 2022 “Women, Life, Freedom” uprising. The economy is in freefall, and after last year’s tensions with Israel and the US (including airstrikes on nuclear sites), the regime looks more vulnerable than ever.

Information is hard to verify fully due to the blackout and restricted access for journalists, but videos and accounts from inside continue to leak out, showing defiant crowds facing off against armed forces.

The streets of Iran are once again alive with anger and defiance, as massive anti-government protests continue to spread across the country—now in their second week and showing no signs of slowing down.

What began in late December as frustration over the sharp collapse of the Iranian rial (the national currency plunging to record lows amid sky-high inflation) has quickly grown into widespread calls for regime change, freedom, and an end to the current leadership. Demonstrators in Tehran and dozens of other cities are chanting against the supreme leader and the entire system, with some openly calling for the return of Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of the last Shah. The streets of Iran are once again alive with anger and defiance, as massive anti-government protests continue to spread across the country

Human rights organizations report that at least 48 protesters have lost their lives since the unrest started, with many more injured from live ammunition and heavy-handed crackdowns by security forces. Videos from the ground show chaotic scenes: crowds facing off against police, injured people being rushed to hospitals, and even reports of gunfire in places like Karaj and southern cities.

The government has responded with force and isolation. Authorities have imposed a nationwide internet blackout (now over 24 hours long in many areas), cutting off mobile data, WhatsApp messages, and most online communication. ATMs and card payments are failing, supermarkets are seeing panic buying, and everyday life is grinding to a halt for millions. State media has shifted to calling protesters “armed terrorists” and showing arrests, while downplaying or denying civilian deaths.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has harshly dismissed the demonstrators as “vandals” acting to please foreign powers specifically pointing fingers at US President Donald Trump, whom he accused of having “Iranian blood” on his hands. Meanwhile, Trump has repeatedly warned that the US would respond forcefully (“hit very hard”) if the regime continues killing peaceful protesters.

In a dramatic appeal from exile, Reza Pahlavi has directly urged Trump to “be prepared to intervene” and support the Iranian people, describing the moment as urgent as crowds face bullets and now total communication silence. Some protesters are waving the old lion-and-sun flag and chanting his name, though it’s unclear how widespread that support truly is.

The situation feels tense and unpredictable. Families inside Iran are cut off from loved ones abroad, with messages stuck undelivered and constant anxiety about safety. One woman who fled to the UK after losing her mother in earlier protests (back in 2022) shared how these events painfully bring back those memories, yet she remains hopeful that this wave of uprisings is connected to the long struggle for freedom.

International voices, including leaders from the UK, Germany, and France, have condemned the violence and called for restraint, while the blackout makes it harder than ever to know the full picture on the ground.
