Johannesburg High Court will today hear the bail appeal of Katiso “KT” Molefe, who is accused of masterminding the 2022 murders of DJ Sumbody (Oupa John Sefoka) and his bodyguards.

Molefe is challenging the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court ruling which denied him bail in August.

The State is opposing bail, citing:

Concerns over Molefe’s flight risk

Alleged ties to a national crime syndicate known as the “Big 5”

The severity of the charges against him

Molefe faces multiple counts of murder and conspiracy, and is currently held at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre.

📌 The outcome of today’s hearing could determine whether Molefe remains behind bars or is released while awaiting trial in one of South Africa’s most high-profile murder cases.
