Businessman Edwin Sodi is back in the spotlight and this time it is not for his flashy lifestyle.

Fresh court papers show that he may lose his high-end apartment in Dainfern after nearly two years of unpaid levies.

According to TimesLIVE, the body corporate of Borgo de Felice is demanding close to R500,000, including interest and legal fees.

The unit has reportedly been standing empty, with trustees saying they have not been able to reach him for a long time.

This comes on top of a long list of financial troubles linked to Sodi.

Other reports from the Sunday Times show he was recently ordered to pay more than R500,000 for unpaid luxury shopping bills, including expensive hotel stays in London and high-end designer purchases.

His company, NJR Projects (now G5 Group), was also liquidated after failing to settle a R1.2 million debt, and he personally owes Hollard Insurance R50 million.

Sodi’s name has also appeared in major corruption cases, including the Free State asbestos project and the failed Rooiwal wastewater upgrade, which was linked to the Hammanskraal cholera crisis.

Despite these issues, he has continued to present himself as a wealthy figure with luxury homes and cars.

The contrast between his public image and the growing list of unpaid bills paints a striking picture.

For someone once seen enjoying the nightlife with celebrities, the silence around his empty apartment and mounting debts feels unusually heavy.
