]]>Limpopo SAPS Spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba on Wednesday, 10 January 2024, the 13-year-old victim was at home at Gedroogte village with the 35-year-old male accused who is also her stepfather when she decided to take a bath.
“She went to her mother’s bedroom to fetch clothes and found her stepfather who pushed her onto the bed. The accused forcefully undressed the victim and raped her. The incident was reported to the police who opened a rape case and immediately commenced with a manhunt of the suspect who was subsequently nabbed at Gedroogte Village on Friday, 12 January 2024.
Mashaba said Warrant Officer Choene Selolo attached to Mokopane Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) Unit was assigned to investigate the matter.
“Through her sterling detective work and abilities, she managed to oppose bail and ensured that the accused remained in police custody until his sentencing by the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s court on Monday,” said Mashaba.

Reportedly, the suspects wearing balaclavas and armed with firearms arrived at the filling station and went to one of the offices. They threatened the victim with firearms and demanded money. They held one customer and other employees on hostage whilst grinding the safe.
They ultimately opened the safe and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money. They then proceeded to the teller and robbed of some cash, two cellphones, and camera memory before fleeing from the scene.
The Police were alerted about the incident.
Limpopo Policespokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said a case of business robbery was opened for further investigation.
Police appeal to anyone with information that can assist in arresting these suspects should contact Detective Constable Billy Nchabeleng on 079 138 3930 or crime stop number 0860010111 or the nearest Police Station or use MySAPSApp.
