Amapiano duo Amaroto has apologised to fans and event organisers after failing to appear at two scheduled performances over the weekend.

The popular South African group, formed in 2018, was booked to perform at Liv Sandton and Vaal Vibes but did not make it to the events.

Amaroto is made up of vocalists Reece Madlisa, whose real name is Clive Tshikosi, and Zuma, whose real name is Sabelo Zuma. Both artists are from Alexandra in Johannesburg.

“We would like to extend our sincere apologies to the teams at LIV Sandton and Vaal Vibes as well as to our supporters and promoters for missing our scheduled performances.” – Amaroto

The duo acknowledged that their absence disappointed fans and promoters but explained that the situation was beyond their control.

According to a statement released by the group, they were delayed at the Lesotho border while travelling back to South Africa, which prevented them from arriving in time for their scheduled performances.

“We would like to extend our sincere apologies to the teams at LIV Sandton and Vaal Vibes, as well as to the Amaroto supporters and promoters, for missing our scheduled performances,” the statement read.

“Unfortunately, while travelling to South Africa, we experienced unexpected delays at the Lesotho border control which prevented us from arriving in time to honour our commitments.

The duo said they fully understand the disappointment caused by the no show and acknowledged the inconvenience it created for organisers and supporters who attended the events.

“We fully understand the disappointment and inconvenience this may have caused to the organisers and everyone who came out in support. Please know that this situation was beyond our control, and every effort was made to resolve the matter and reach the venues as quickly as possible.”

Amaroto also expressed appreciation for the continued support from fans and event organisers and promised to make it up to those affected.

The duo is known for amapiano hits such as Zlele and Iy’ntsimbi Zase Envy. They rose to prominence through collaborations with artists including Mr JazziQ and Busta 929.

After briefly pursuing solo projects, the two artists reunited and have continued performing together.
