Following the news that award winning Singer Mduduzi Ncube and Musiholiq were dumping Inkabi Records to focus to their newly established record labels.

MDNtv News broke the news that Mduduzi and Musiholiq whose real name is Ncazelo Mtolo were no longer part of Inkabi Records.

Inkabi Records PR Manager Sange Mtukushe finally responded to the allegations.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce and bring clarity to some developments at our recording label. Over the past couple of years, we have seen great success from the emergence and growth of the record label. We pride ourselves on developing new and exciting talent, offering opportunities to young, ambitious, and highly talented individuals.

Mtukushe said Inkabi Records has managed to positively transform the lives of its artists.

“We have built and grown household brands that have contributed significantly to the music industry. Today, most of our talent is self-sustained and has developed their own businesses in the entertainment industry and other sectors. Most have managed to build sustainable lives for themselves and their families, and we are truly grateful for that.

“With growth comes change, and change is not a bad thing, but a sign of maturity and progress – an opportunity for the talent and label to expand and seek further opportunities. We would like to formally declare the following,” Mtukushe said.

Addressing Mduduzi’s departure, Mtukushe said his contract he come to an en.

“Mduduzi Ncube was the first artist signed by Inkabi Records, and his contract has run its course. As Inkabi Records, we are happy to announce that Mduduzi will be continuing his musical journey under his newly established label, Blackbird. We are excited to see him spread his wings as an artist, label owner, and executive. We wish him nothing but the best. It has truly been an amazing journey, with multiple successful releases, platinum records, and awards accumulated,” she said.

She said the separation is mutual, well-received, and fully supported by all parties.

“It is nothing more than growth. Our relationship remains strong, and we will continue to work on certain projects and opportunities together. Inkabi Records will continue its purpose of providing opportunities and developing new talent. We are happy to formally announce our latest signings, the beautiful, amazingly talented, and soulful artist “Starr Healer,” and the incredible musical genius, with amazing vocals and out-of-this-world writing skills, “Fanatic SA,” she said.

She further explained the situation of Musiholiq.

“Concerning Musiholiq, over the years he has always been a close friend and ally to the label and one of its founders (Big Zulu). Musiholiq was never signed under Inkabi Records, we have always shared a progressive working relationship that aids in supporting each other when needed. Musiholiq is a talented independent artist and a good friend to Inkabi Records. We will continue to align and work together on certain projects,” she said.

Doctors clear Makhadzi to resume work

Multi award-winning singer Makhadzi says she is ready to step back onto the stage after doctors cleared her to return to work following injuries sustained in a car accident late last year.

The artist, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, was involved in a crash near Polokwane on December 31, 2025, while travelling in Limpopo. She was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged, with early updates suggesting she would be out of action for several weeks as she focused on recovery.

Check-ups in Polokwane bring the green light

This week, Makhadzi attended follow-up check-ups in Polokwane, Limpopo, where her medical team assessed her progress and cleared her to continue with her work.

Doctors were pleased with the pace of her recovery after completing the necessary evaluations. For fans who have watched her career rise through relentless touring and high-energy performances, the news feels like a collective exhale. Makhadzi’s shows demand stamina, movement, and heart, so her return has been closely followed by supporters across the country who have missed seeing her do what she does best.

“I am feeling good”: Makhadzi thanks supporters and hospital staff

Speaking after being cleared, Makhadzi shared a heartfelt message of appreciation to the people who stood by her through the recovery period, including medical workers and public figures who reached out.

“I am feeling good and would like to thank all the staff members, the nurses, and the doctors from Netcare, Pholosho in Polokwane for taking care of me from day one. I would also like to thank the Minister of Sport, Mr. Gayton Mackenzie; Limpopo Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba and her executive; Polokwane Mayor John Mpe, my family; my mother and my father, my team, fellow artists, The AFRIMA’s, Munguambe foundation and all my followers for all the prayers and messages of support,” she said.

Her words carried the weight of someone who has been through a frightening moment and come out the other side with gratitude and renewed drive. It was not only a thank you, but a reminder that she has never walked this journey alone.

New music on the way during comeback preparations

Even while recovering, Makhadzi has kept her creative spirit alive. She has been busy making music during this period, and her team says fans can expect new releases very soon. Those close to the artist say the time away from the stage has only sharpened her hunger, and that she is eager to reconnect with the people who have carried her with prayers and encouragement.

Comeback show set for May 1 in Pretoria

With doctors satisfied with her progress, attention now turns to her return. Makhadzi’s team has been working behind the scenes on her comeback show, set to take place at Fountains in Pretoria on May 1, 2026.

For fans, the date is more than just another event on the calendar. It marks a comeback moment, a chance to celebrate her recovery, her resilience, and the music that continues to keep her name ringing across South Africa and beyond.

South African Hip Hop sensation Nasty C opens the year with clarity, conviction and creative confidence through the release of the Head Up 2.0 music video, which he features world-renowned Soweto Gospel Choir.

The video stands as a statement of intent, extending the emotional weight of the song into a powerful visual declaration, reminding the world that his journey is far from finished and that he is entering this next chapter on his own terms.

Real name David Ngcobo from Durban in KwaZulu Natal (KZN), Nasty C saud the collaboration feels intentional and sincere, with both worlds meeting in a way that honours their respective legacies while creating something entirely new.

He said the video leans into the emotional and spiritual core of the song, placing resilience, faith and self belief at the center of the narrative.

The presence of the Soweto Gospel Choir elevates the song and its visual world into something deeply resonant.

Their voices bring warmth, reverence and power, grounding the message in a distinctly African spiritual tradition that speaks across generations and borders.

“Head Up was a fusion of rhythm and rhyme, where the soulful chants of the Soweto Gospel Choir blended beautifully with the dynamic flow of one of the greatest world class rappers to come out of South Africa. It was a celebration of diversity and unity, creating a powerful, meaningful and uplifting song that resonated with the hearts of all who performed and listened. It is a blessing to be part of such greatness,” read a statement from the Soweto Gospel Choir

For Nasty C, Head Up has always carried deep personal meaning.

He said the song was created over several years, shaped by moments of uncertainty, growth and renewal, allowing it to mature alongside him.

Speaking on the track, he reflects on its role in his life and career.

“Head Up is a very special song to me. It is a motivational song, one that picks me up whenever I hit a low. I made it during a time where I needed reminding that my journey is my own, that my vision matters, and that my time will come when it is meant to. Bringing it to life now, especially with the Soweto Gospel Choir, feels like everything aligning at the right moment,” he said.

The Head Up 2.0 music video captures this sentiment with quiet confidence and emotional depth.

“It is not driven by excess or spectacle, but by presence and purpose, allowing the message to breathe. In doing so, it reinforces my position as an artist who continues to evolve without losing sight of who I am or where I come from,” he said.

Under the theme “Flowers For Those Who Keep Our Nation Singing,” the awards made a clear statement: celebrate artists while their voices are still resonant, while the music is still breathing.

Goldmax emerged as one of the night’s defining figures. His album Play At Your Own Risk claimed Album of the Year and Best Gqom Album, earning him Male Artist of the Year and firmly positioning gqom at the centre of the national conversation.

Towering with quiet authority was Thandiswa Mazwai, whose album Sankofa dominated the ceremony. She was named Female Artist of the Year and walked away with Best African Adult Contemporary Album, Best Engineered Album, and Best Produced Album a masterclass in intention, memory and musical return.

Collective power was celebrated through Black Motion, who won Duo or Group of the Year and Best Collaboration for Takala, reinforcing the enduring strength of unity in South African music.

The future was ushered forward with purpose as Nontokozo Mkhize claimed Newcomer of the Year for Lindiwe a debut rooted in faith, feeling and promise.

Across genres, the awards reflected the breadth of the country’s sonic landscape.

Technical and artistic excellence were also foregrounded. Shekhinah won Best Produced Music Video for Risk, while awards for adult contemporary, rock, reggae, traditional, alternative and faith based music underscored the depth of South Africa’s creative ecosystem.

Beyond the country’s borders, Nigerian star Ayra Starr received the Rest of Africa Award for The Year I Turned 21 , reinforcing South Africa’s place within a broader continental rhythm.

More than a spectacle, SAMA31 functioned as dialogue between elders and newcomers, between tradition and innovation, between memory and momentum. Elegance on the red carpet mirrored intention on stage, and the performances reminded audiences why live music moments still matter.

As the final notes faded, one truth remained clear: SAMA31 was not only a celebration of excellence, but a living archive of South African sound giving artists their flowers, in real time.

Tuesday, 28 October 2025, Johannesburg – Celebrated Singer, Songwriter, and Deejay, Nana Atta, is dropping a brand new refreshing Afro House single titled Higher. The single features the talented DJ & Producer Kenza.

Marking a powerful new chapter, this is her first official release under her own label ‘AttaGirl Music Group’, and the title couldn’t be more fitting.

“Higher” is an uplifting anthem, a motivational tribute to the unseen forces, inner strength, and divine energy that continue to elevate us beyond limitations. It’s a celebration of growth, purpose, and rising into new levels of being.
