WESTERN CAPE – The swift response by Strand and Lwandle SAPS members led to the arrest of two suspects after they perpetrated a business robbery in Strand on Thursday, 04 April 2024. Strand police attended to a complaint of a business robbery in Wilimina Street, Strand, where unknown suspects entered a retail store and robbed it of cigarettes, vapes, sweets and a undisclosed amount of cash where after they fled the scene. Their vehicle was spotted by the police members upon which a high-speed chase ensued. The vehicle came to a halt when it collided with another vehicle. The suspects jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to escape arrest, but were chased down by the members. Two adult male suspects were arrested and a 9mm pistol and some of the stolen items were recovered. They are facing charges of business robbery, the illegal possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.
Once charged they are due to make a court appearance in the Strand Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
