SWIFT POLICE ACTION LEADS TO RECOVERY OF ALLEGED STOLEN LIVESTOCK
Two males aged 28 and 45 were arrested after they were found in possession of suspected stolen cattle.
It is alleged that on Sunday, 11 May 2025, members attached to Bultfontein Stocktheft Unit and Welkom K9 received and traced information about stolen cattle. It led them to a cattle kraal in Riebeeckstad. Upon arrival, members discovered five calves confined in the cattle kraal. Two male suspects aged 28 and 45 were subsequently arrested after they could not account for the cattle.
Police recovered five calves valued at R45 000 and 1 branding iron from the suspects.
The alleged stolen cattle was identified by the lawful owner after seven calves were allegedly stolen from a farm in Winburg, on Saturday, 10 May 2025.
Lejweleputswa Policespokesperson Sergent Palesa Thabana confirmed the
arrests of the suspects 28 and 45 for possession of suspected stolen livestock.
They will appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court soon
