WESTERN CAPE – Strengthening the ties between the South African Police Service and the community of Delft yielded success after police members received information from a community member about ammunition that is kept at a premises in Eindhoven, Delft on Sunday morning, 25 August 2024. Members of Public Order Police were conducting crime prevention operations in Delft due to ongoing gang violence in the area when they received information about ammunition that is kept at a premises in Churchill Street, Eindhoven, Delft. The members ensued with a search of the premises and confiscated 50, 357 Magnum rounds of ammunition. A 42-year-old female was arrested for the illegal possession of ammunition when she could not produce a permit to possess the ammunition. The suspect will appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ court once she has been charged. In an unrelated intervention members of Operation Shanela deployed in the Mitchell’s Plain area searched a premises in Silwermyn Street, Tafelsig and confiscated 50 mandrax tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash. A 29-year-old suspect was arrested and will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ Court today.
