WESTERN CAPE – The Western Cape police are working tirelessly to discontinue the illegal distribution of drugs, firearms, and liquor in our communities and to apprehend those who are behind these criminal activities. On Thursday, 07 November 2024, members attached to Worcester Anti-Gang Unit received information about firearms and drugs being stored at a premises in Sampson Street, Riverview, Worcester. The members swiftly responded to the information received, and upon arrival, they found two people at the premises and presented them a search warrant. They then proceeded to a caravan that was on the premises where they found a Z88 Beretta firearm, with an assortment of ammunition, 146 mandrax tablets, three half mandrax tablets, two bags of dagga, 181 sachets of tik, 35g of cocaine and two bags of tik. The members arrested the two suspects aged 26 and 31 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession and or dealing in drugs. They are due to appear in the Worcester Magistrates court once charged on the mentioned charges. In an unrelated matter, Robertson SAPS Crime Prevention Unit in conjunction with members of the Department of Correctional Services conducted an intelligence driven operation after receiving information of dealing in liquor without license at a premises at Schacks near Ntonzima Street in Robertson. The members operationalised the information and found two snooker boards, a sitting area for patrons, and a total of 154.020 litres of different liquor on the premises. A further search on the premises led to the discovery of a 9mm Baretta pistol with serial number removed. A 56-year-old female who was found on the premises was arrested for dealing in liquor without a license and possession of a prohibited firearm. The liquor and firearm were seized and booked in as exhibit.
The arrested female was detained at Robertson SAPS and will appear in court once charged.
