Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The determination by members of the Kuilsriver Crime Prevention Unit to combat crime in their policing precinct yielded success when they arrested three suspects in the early hours of Thursday morning. The members attended to a complaint of a shooting in progress in Riverside Gardens, Kuilsriver and on their way to the complaint, they saw a white Nissan Sentra colliding with a traffic light on the Corner of Nooiensfontein Road and Chapel Street. The occupants of the vehicle jumped out and tried to flee from the scene but were apprehended by the police members. Upon searching the vehicle they found an imitation firearm in the vehicle. Further investigations revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Kuilsriver the previous day. The suspects aged 21, 31 and 35 were arrested for the possession of an imitation firearm and the possession of a hijacked vehicle.
They will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ court once they have been charged.
