Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – On Saturday 09 November 2024 at about 08:00, members attached to the Makhaza Crime Prevention Unit received information about dagga that is being sold at a residence in 42 Block, Makhaza. The members acted on the information provided to them and at the said residence the members found a large quantity of dagga and empty small plastic bags inside the premises. The owner of the residence was arrested on charges of dealing in dagga. Whilst executing the arrest more information was received about two persons also selling dagga in the same vicinity. The members acted on the information and found an adult female and a male who were selling dagga at different places and arrested both on separate cases of dealing in dagga. In an unrelated matter, on Saturday, 09 November 2024 at about 23:45, the members were patrolling at Qhekezana Street, 40 Block and spotted a suspicious male. They immediately stopped and searched the suspect and recovered a 9mm firearm with seven 9mm rounds inside the suspects sling bag. The 35-year-old suspect was arrested and detained in Harare SAPS. All the suspects are due to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate court for their respective charges on Monday 11 November 2024. Ends
