WESTERN CAPE – Efforts by the Western Cape police to keep firearms and ammunition off our streets and bring the perpetrators of the law to book, turned out to be successful when they apprehended an adult male on charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. On Monday, 01 July 2024 at around 20:20, members followed up on information received about a person in possession of a firearm at a premises in Witteberg Street, New Extension, Uniondale. The members attended to the identified address and ensued with a search upon which they found and seized a .22 revolver and five .22 mm rounds of ammunition. An adult male was apprehended for the illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. Further investigations revealed that the firearm was stolen and the owner will be traced and also be charged for not reporting the firearm as stolen. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Uniondale Magistrates’ court on Wednesday 03 July 2024 on the mentioned charges. Ends
