EASTERN CAPE – On 4 July 2024 Mnyamezeli Lakhona Tete (59) was successfully linked to a kidnapping of Sonam Gajjar (34) victim who was allegedly accosted by unidentified suspects in front her house at Kariega at gunpoint, forced into a white Hyundai on 13 March 2024. The reports exposed that the victim was later released unharmed two (2) days after the horrific incident. Tete was arrested by the Gqeberha Hawk’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation on 9 June 2024 for another kidnapping incident. Tete was in custody ever since his arrest. His arrest came after an incident that occurred on 5 April 2024, where it is alleged that a 31-year-old victim who is a foreign national was in his business at North End in Gqeberha where he was also accosted by unidentified suspects and was forced into an Opel Mokka. Tete appeared before the Gqeberha New Law court on 4 July2024, facing allegations of kidnapping. The matter was thus remanded to 9 July 2024 for formalbailapplication.
More arrests are imminent as intensive investigations are still ongoing.
