Media Statement POLOKWANE – On Thursday, 4 July 2024, a 47-year-old male suspect, Matome Jack Senetla, a resident of Zone 4 Steve Biko Park in the Seshego policing area, appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in connection with a fraud case. Senetla was granted bail in the amount of R1000-00, and his case has been postponed to 6 August 2024. The suspect allegedly forged an insurance certificate representing underwriter, a Liability Insurance Company entrusted with overseeing significant events sanctioned by the leading general insurer. It is reported, the 47-year-old male suspect fraudulently obtained a considerable sum of money for providing security and insurance services for a National Youth Conference held at Ramathlodi Park in May 2024, organized by the Seshego known church. Subsequent scrutiny post-event revealed discrepancies in the information provided, raising suspicions about the authenticity of the registered company. Inquiries were made with the company, and the company officials disavowed any association with the transaction. The matter was reported to the Westenburg police station, and a case was opened and later escalated to the Provincial Commercial Crime Investigation Unit for thorough investigation. The suspect voluntarily surrendered to the Polokwane SAPS on 4 July 2024 at about 07:30.
Police investigations are ongoing.
