WESTERN Cape – Vigilant members attached to Philippi SAPS arrested a 36-year-old male while on patrols in Hanover Park on Friday, 28 February 2025. The members were busy with crime prevention duties when they saw an unknown man walking in the road and when he saw the police vehicle he tried to evade the police. He was stopped and searched in Solent Court and the members found a 9mm pistol without a serial number with six rounds of ammunition in his possession. He was arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. The suspect will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court on Monday 03 March 2025 on the mentioned charges. Ends
