Media Statement POLOKWANE – The continued fight against drug abuse in Limpopo Province reaped rewards following the arrest of a 40-year-old male suspect who was found dealing in illicit drugs worth three thousand rand and a substantial amount of cash at Bela Bela policing precinct. On Friday, 26 July 2024, at about 10:00, members of the Provincial Organised Crime Narcotics and Operational Desk, provincial CI narcotics, and Bela-Bela Crime Intelligence conducted a takedown operation called DORCUS to address the prevalence of illicit drugs within the Waterberg District. The target was identified as the main supplier of illicit drugs interlinking the province between Gauteng and Limpopo. The residence of the target was identified, upon arrival and searching of the house. The suspect was found in possession of substances suspected to be heroine drugs weighing 0,128 with an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of the drug trade. The drugs and money were confiscated. He was immediately arrested. The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended members for their sterling work in the eradication of drugs in the province.
He will appear before Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 July 2024, on charges of dealing in illicit drugs.
