Media Statement GAUTENG – Prince Dube (41) was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation on 05 April 2024 outside the WesBank offices in Fairlands, Johannesburg for alleged corruption. On Wednesday, 03 April 2024, a complaint was received from the WesBank Forensic Investigation team about a Zimbabwean national who owns a company Intsukuzonke Motors contracted by WesBank to fix government fleet cars. An audit of all its service providers was conducted by WesBank where it was discovered that the identity document of the accused had been deleted by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). When contacted by the forensic investigation team for clarity with regards to the status of his identity document, the accused offered the investigators at WesBank R60 000 gratification in hopes that the investigation against him would not proceed. An operation was conducted on 05 April 2024 at the WesBank parking lot which led to the arrest of the accused after he had paid gratification of R60 000 to the WesBank investigator. During the arrest an amount of R60 000 was seized as well as the cell phone belonging to the accused. Dube made his first appearance before the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 08 April 2024 where he was granted bail of R7000, while the matter is postponed to 15 April 2024 for further investigation.
