Media Statement BLOEMFONTEIN – A 42-year-old suspect, David Munashe appeared in Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Friday 13 September 2024, for possession of presumably stolen property and contravention of Medicines and Controlled Substances Act 101 of 1965. On Wednesday 11 September 2024 members of Botshabelo Crime Prevention Task Team received information of an African male carrying suspiciously wrapped bags in H1-Section. The team swiftly responded and tactically approached the area. The police then searched the 42-year-old male at about 19:40 and found in his possession 313 bottles of Bron Cleer Cough Syrup valued at R15 650.00 and 10 Salterpyn Syrup valued at R500.00. The suspect, who is of foreign origin was also found without proper documents to be in the Republic of South Africa. A case of possession of presumably stolen property and Contravention of Medicines and Controlled Substances Act 101 of 1965 was opened at Botshabelo Police Station. The medicine bottles were seized and the suspect detained in police custody. The suspect was remanded in custody and is expected back in Court on Friday 20 September 2024. Ends
