Media Statement CAPE TOWN – On Saturday, 28 September 2024, at about 04:30, members of Worcester SAPS executed a search warrant in the Magwaleni informal settlement in Zwelethemba. Upon searching the informal dwelling the members recovered a firearm that was hidden in the dwelling. An adult male was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm. Further investigations revealed that the firearm was stolen in Mtunzizi. The suspect will appear in the Worcester Magistrates court on Monday 30 September 2024, on the mentioned charges. In an unrelated intervention, members of Public Order Police arrested two males, aged 46 and 53, when they followed up information about illicit drug activities at a premises in Ketch Road, Strandfontein on Saturday afternoon, 28 September 2024. They searched the two males and found an imitation firearm and mandrax tablets on the one suspect and 16 units heroin, 26 small packets containing crystal meth and six mandrax tablets on the other suspect. They face chargers for possession of an imitation firearm and possession of drugs respectively. They are due to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court on Monday 30 September 2024, on the mentioned charges. Ends
