Media Statement TSOLO – In attempts to reduce unlicensed firearm in our communities, Joe Gqabi Tactical Response Team arrested an 18-year-old male suspect at Magutywa locality, Tsolo A/A for possession of an unlicensed assault rifle (AK47) and ammunition. Police were focusing on crime prevention duties and arrested the 18 year old male suspect in his homestead. Preliminary investigation confirms that the suspect is allegedly keeping firearms after committing criminal activities.
He appeared in the Tsolo magistrate court on 17 October 2024, on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition and the case was postponed to Monday, 21 October 2024, for a bail application.
