PARKTOWN – The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has commended the Station Commander of SAPS Sunnyside for the swift action taken against the driver of the state vehicle which has been seen on a video circulating on social media. On the video, an unknown man is promoting his product while seated in the back seat of the State vehicle. The station Commander, Brigadier Matshidiso Kgoadi, upon receiving the video clip, conducted a preliminary internal investigation and managed to identify the driver. An internal disciplinary processes have already been instituted against the member involved. “Police vehicles should be used to serve and protect the public and for the benefit of the victims of crime and not for any other purpose. The misuse and abuse of police vehicles will not be tolerated, and those police officers who are found to be contravening the police code of conduct will be dealt with accordingly, ” said the Provincial Commissioner.
