Media Statement ALIWAL NORTH – During the early hours of today, Aliwal North Stock Theft Unit members apprehended three suspects, aged 31, 37 and 45 for alleged stock theft. Members attached to Aliwal North Stock Theft Unit followed up on information that led them to a farm in Lady Grey, where three suspects were caught in the act of stealing sheep. The suspects were arrested on the spot. One sheep was recovered during the process. The three suspects will appear before Lady Grey Magistrate’s Court soon. The District Commissioner, Major General Lindelwa Vellem, commended the team for their swift response, which prevented the commission of crime and saved the farmer from the tremendous loss of property. Police will continue with such operations in curbing stock theft, and this sends a strong message to the suspects that we will arrest the suspects responsible for criminal activities, she concluded.
