EFF supporters gather at Union Buildings to celebrate VAT court victory

Thousands of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters have gathered at the Union Buildings in Pretoria for a “VAT Victory March” to the National Treasury, celebrating the suspension of a proposed value-added tax (VAT) increase.

The gathering, led by EFF leader Julius Malema, comes after the Western Cape High Court halted the implementation of a 0.5% VAT hike. The decision followed a joint legal challenge brought by the EFF and the Democratic Alliance (DA), a rare instance of collaboration between the two political rivals.
