Media Statement POTCHEFSTROOM – The illicit mining task team continue to pounce on criminals. This became evident when the team in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District followed-up on information received and ultimately arrested six suspects who were caught red-handed on a farm in Stilfontein, on Thursday morning, 27 June 2024. According to reports, the accused were allegedly caught stealing diesel from two construction vehicles as well as a light delivery vehicle. During the arrest, the police seized 20 drums, containing a total of 500 litres of diesel. Lindelwa Nkwanyane (31), Simiso Ngcomphalala (29), John Rasereka (64), Amos Novela (57), Piet Leeu (34) and Olebogeng Sejako (41) appeared before the Stilfontein Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 28 June 2024, on a charge of theft. They were remanded in custody until their second court appearance on Friday, 05 July 2024. The Police Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena lauded the team for their tireless efforts in the fight against illicit economic activities. Ends
