GAUTENG – An intelligence-driven operation has once again delivered significant results for Mamelodi East SAPS, leading to the arrest of six male suspects in the early hours of Friday, 07 February 2025. The suspects face charges of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, and dealing in drugs. The arrests follow after information was received from the community by Mamelodi SAPS members, which acted on information regarding three individuals, aged 43, 25, and 21, allegedly involved in drug dealing. The suspects were apprehended at three separate locations in Mamelodi East, after an operational takedown was planned and executed. The officers seized 41 sachets of Nyaope, 103 rocks of cocaine, and 32 packets of dagga, with an estimated street value of R10 500. In addition, three more suspects were arrested during the same operation for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition. A suspect wanted for an attempted murder case dating back to July 2017 was successfully traced and apprehended. Furthermore, in Mahube, two additional suspects were arrested after being found in possession of a 9mm pistol, a rifle holder, and 216 rounds of live shotgun ammunition.
The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine, has welcomed the arrests and commended the officers for their ongoing commitment to fighting crime.
