Media Statement PHUTHADITJHABA – Two kidnapped victims were rescued by police. It is alleged that on 25 March 2024 at about 21:00 the victim was sleeping with his friend at home when they heard a knock on the door and answered. The person on the other side mentioned that he wants a place where they can buy liquor. As soon as the complainant opened the door he was pointed with a firearm and about five balaclava clad suspects stormed into the house. The victim and his friend were blindfolded and taken to a house in Tseki where they were kept and forced to transfer a large sum of money into an account. On Tuesday 26 March 2024 at about 23:55, police officers from Tseki Police station working together with Phuthaditjhaba Tactical Response Team, received information on the abduction and proceeded to a house where a firearm was found and the six suspects aged between 26 and 56 were arrested for house robbery and kidnapping. Police also confiscated a white Toyota Fortuner used in the kidnapping. The six suspects are set to appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court soon. Ends
