“I never dated this guy. I don’t even know him. That’s why I wanted to clarify the rumours.” These are the words of SABC 1’s Amalanga Awafani actress and singer Nomcebo “Nomcebo Dot” Mthethwa from Emoangeni in the North of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) who is now based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Nomcebo Dot said for a longest time she has been quiet about these allegations of hers dating and being married to Zimbabwean born former Kaizer Chiefs player Khama Billiat.

On January 2021, a Sunday publication published an article where it alleged that Billiat secretly paid lobila for the former Mzansi Magic’s music show called Trace.

The publication further alleged that Nomcebo Dot was prepared and happy to become wife number 2 since Billiat was already married back at home to his wife known as Esnath Munyedawo.
On Monday, Nomcebo Dot released a statement where she was clarifying and telling her side of the story about her alleged relationship with Billiat who now plays for Scotland FC which he joined last year after parting ways with Yada FC.

“It is quite disturbing. I’m a born again Christian. Even in church I get asked about these allegations, and I just want to clear my name. For too long, have remained quiet, choosing to focus on my craft and believing that these baseless allegations would eventually fade away. However, my silence has been mistaken for weakness,” she wrote.
She claims that these persistent lies have now crossed a line, severely impacting on her professional career, damaging her brand image, and causing unnecessary distress to her family and personal life.
“I am officially addressing the false reports published by Hopewell Mpapu of Drum and the various News 24 bloggers claiming that I am married to soccer player Khama Billiat. Let me be as direct as possible. This is a complete lie. I am not married and have never been married to anyone. I have spent years building my reputation as a global pop artist, and I will no longer allow reckless “journalism” to jeopardize my hard work for the sake of clicks. I have now engaged both my management team and my legal counsel to handle this matter aggressively.
“We are moving forward to settle this once and for all. To the bloggers and individuals responsible for these stories. Consider this a final and powerful warning. My legal team is coming for you. If you choose to stand by these fabrications, suggest you prepare your evidence, as we will be seeing you in court. I demand that all defamatory content regarding my brand be pulled down immediately,” the statement reads.
