Sibiya Disciplinary Hearing Postponed to 12 October
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that disciplinary proceedings against suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya are continuing.
The disciplinary hearing sat today, Monday, with Sibiya’s request for a postponement granted. The matter was postponed to 12 October 2026 to allow him to consult his legal representatives.
SAPS also clarified that the disciplinary hearing and Sibiya’s urgent Labour Court application are separate matters. The Labour Court case was also heard today, Monday and adjourned to allow SAPS to file opposing papers and Sibiya to respond.
Sibiya faces disciplinary action over alleged misconduct and corruption linked to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. He has denied wrongdoing.
He remains in custody at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre on a separate criminal case involving charges including rpe, sxual grooming and human trafficking. His bail application is due to resume on Wednesday, 7 October.
A further disciplinary process has been scheduled for early November.
