Shebe Maburna’s third bail bid postponed
Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego “Shebe Maburna” Chauke’s third bail application has been postponed in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court after he appointed a new legal team.
The National Prosecuting Authority said the new lawyers need time to familiarise themselves with the case.
Chauke remains in custody facing 21 charges, including four counts of attempted murder, assault, malicious damage to property and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He was previously represented by Advocate Michael Khumalo and Senior Counsel Laurence Hodes.
His previous bail applications, as well as appeals in the High Court, were unsuccessful. The courts also heard that some of the alleged offences were committed while Chauke was already out on bail.
The matter is expected back in court on Thursday, 10 September, for pre-trial proceedings.
