Police in Cape Town are investigating a wave of killings in Muizenberg after seven people lost their lives in two separate mass shootings within just three days.
The latest attack took place on Saturday night at Mike Place in Xakabantu, where three people – one man and two women, aged between 29 and 32 – were gunned down. A fourth victim, a man, survived after being shot and managed to escape.
Authorities say the suspects fled the scene and remain at large. The motive behind the attack is still unknown, but detectives are following all available leads. Police have since increased their presence in the area to prevent further violence.
This comes only days after four men were killed in a similar incident on Wednesday morning in Overcome Heights, also in Muizenberg. The victims, aged between 20 and 37, were found with fatal gunshot wounds along Mountain Road.
Community members have expressed shock at the surge in killings, with calls growing for urgent action to address crime in the area. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
