Media Statement MTHATHA – The Mthatha High Court has sentenced Mziwoxolo Zozi (44) to life imprisonment plus 180 years’ for a series of violent crimes committed over six years. Between 2016 and 2022, Zozi terrorized women and children, breaking into their homes at night in areas along the N2 highway, including Mthatha, Libode, Tsolo, Qumbu, and Mount Frere. Armed with a knife or firearm, he would threaten and rape his victims, whose ages ranged between 14 to 46. For years, he remained unknown to the victims, but DNA evidence linked him to 11 cases. He was finally arrested in November 2022 and remained in custody at Marikana. His first court appearance was in March 2023 in Libode District Court, where he was denied bail. On August 28, 2024, he was found guilty on 16 charges, including rape, housebreaking, and armed robbery. Judge Dawood delivered the sentence in ensuring Zozi would spend the rest of his life in prison. Ends
