Media Statement KWAZULU-NATAL – On Monday, 15 April 2024, Hawks members from Richards Bay Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a 33-year-old suspect for theft of cash. It is alleged that Thursday, 11 April 2024, the suspect collected R209 500.00 from one of the clients at Ulundi and did not hand over that cash to the cash volt. The client enquired about the collected cash and an internal investigation was conducted. Preliminary investigation revealed that the receipt book had been tampered with and a case of theft was reported at Richards Bay police station. Hawks members were alerted and suspect was identified. A search warrant was obtained and executed yesterday. During the search at the suspect’s residence, R26 000.00 was found. He was placed under arrest and charged accordingly. He is expected to appear in the Richards Bay Magistrates’ Court today. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona welcomed the arrest and applauded the members for the good work. Ends
