Sarah Gray and David Lamont proved to be the strongest runners within the ladies’s and males’s classes over the flagship 20km race of the Sappi Scottburgh Trail Run Weekend.

Sarah Gray takes the honours to lengthen sequence lead

“It was quite difficult today with a lot of up and down but there was some good single track and it wasn’t too technical,” Gray mentioned after her second consecutive ROAG Series race win.
“It was beautiful running through the forest and the sugar cane so it was a great morning out on the trails here.”

Anderson completed second within the ladies’s race and ended fourth total whereas Zoe Papadakis completed third within the ladies’s race and fifth total.
The males’s race was dominated by occasion veteran Lamont who gained by 5 minutes over Scottburgh native Merrick Kennedy. Lamont will likely be again for the MTB race on Sunday however loved his outing alongside the paths on the KZN South Coast.
“It was fantastic out there today and the trails were good and really well marked and the water tables were great, it’s always a joy coming here,” Lamont mentioned.
“I think I’ve done every MTB race here and to add the trail run is fantastic and it’s an event that people need to add to their list!”
Lamont bought himself to the entrance of the race and didn’t look again all through.
“I was hoping the youngsters would be here because I’m a master and usually they come through and give me a hiding! I am hoping that next year the younger guys can come through and we can have a real dice.”

Scottburgh hosts nice weekend
