Media Statement CAPE TOWN – The presence of police members on the N1 Highway proved to be successful when they arrested a suspect on Sunday 23 February 2025. Members attached to Woodstock Crime Prevention Unit were strategically deployed in civilian dress to do foot patrols in an area identified by the local SAPS as a hotspot where often cyclists become victims of mugging in the vicinity of Lower Church Street bridge. At about 08:45 they noticed an unidentified man trying to rob a cyclist. The members gave chase and apprehended the 34-year-old foreign national for attempted robbery. Once charged the suspect is expected make a court appearance in the Cape Town Central Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charge. Ends
