Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Police in Vuwani have launched a massive manhunt for the suspects responsible for the murder of an unknown male person who was allegedly burned to death by the members of the community of Manavhela in Vhembe District. It is reported that the Police received information about the suspected vigilante attack on Friday, 12 April 2024. Upon their arrival at the scene of crime, they discovered the lifeless burnt body of a person who was allegedly attacked by the members of the community. The victim is not yet known, and the motive for the attack is still subject to police investigation. A case of murder has been opened. Police have intensified investigation to trace and arrest suspects responsible for the murder. The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the brutal manner in which the victim was killed. “We always urge the community to refrain from vigilantism and seek assistance from the police, local leadership as well as community based crime structures rather than taking the law into their own hands,” concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe. Police appeal to anyone with information that can assist in arresting the suspects responsible for the horrendous act to report to the investigating officer, Sergeant Sadiki Dovhani on 083 872 5529 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
