SAPS Limpopo continues to raise awareness about illegal mining through Operation Vala Umgodi live on air with Mokopane Community Radio

POLOKWANE – SAPS Limpopo TACJOC Pilla 5 Communications and Liaison Officer Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi embarked on a campaign raising awareness of illegal mining through conducting live radio interviews.

On 26 Wednesday, 2024, at about 10:00, Lieutenant Colonel Seabi visited Mokopane Community Radio Studio to participate in the “Morning breakfast show,” raising awareness on illegal mining. Lieutenant Colonel Seabi was hosted by the presenter, Ms Seipati, in which the following fundamental issues were outlined

• Illegal Mining of minerals and sand is a crime
• The negative impact of illegal mining on the land and to the communities
• Multi-disciplinary high-dendisty Operation Vala Umgodi
• To give police information and remain anonymous
• To register as an informer

The message flows with the theme “Stop Illegal Mining, ‘If you see something, SAY something’. Illegal Mining is Crime

Listeners were encouraged to report illegal mining and any other criminal activities to the police by calling the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or alternatively to forward anonymous tip-offs to MySAPS App, or to report to the nearest Police Station.
