The South African National Taxi Council has called for peace in the transport industry following the killing of an e-hailing operator in Pimville, Soweto.
The council stressed that dialogue, not violence, is the only way to address tensions between taxi operators and e-hailing services.
In response to the incident, Gauteng’s transport leadership met with industry stakeholders, urging all parties to remain calm.
The attack sparked outrage among community members, with protests forcing the temporary closure of Maponya Mall.
