Media Statement POLOKWANE – Sekhukhune District Communication Officer Constable Patience Maipushe shared safety tips with listeners during a radio interview on Sekhukhune Community Radio on Wednesday 23 October 2024, situated in Jane Furse policing area. The interview that was conducted telephonically was from 15:30 until 16:00. Topic’s outlined SAPS recruitment scam: listeners were cautioned about the ongoing recruitment scams that promise job seekers employment within SAPS in exchange for money and they were also informed that “jobs in the SAPS are not for sale” therefore cannot be bought and victims were also urged to report scammers at the nearest police station. Estate firearms: the listeners were advised about the inheritance of firearms, in cases where he/she wishes to keep it, they should apply for an appropriate licence and if the person who inherited the firearm does not wish to keep it he/she must deactivate the firearm or dispose it in accordance with the Firearm Control Act no 60 of 2000. Prevention of Burglary residence: the listeners were advised not to leave their homes unattended this festive period and to at least leave someone in the house when going for holidays. In conclusion Constable Maipushe emphasized that since we are approaching festive season, motorists were advised not to drink and drive and if they feel exhausted they should park at the nearest filling station and rest.
