Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Safer festive season operations in the West Coast District yielded success when police members arrested suspects for the possession of drugs and dealing in liquor without a license on Tuesday, 31 December 2024. Members of Riebeek West SAPS followed up information about a person that is in possession of drugs in a minibus taxi who is en route to Riebeek West. The minibus taxi was identified by the members and pulled over. The occupants and the vehicle were searched and the drugs were found in a brown bag that was in possession of a female. The members confiscated 40 small transparent plastic packets containing cocaine and 100 mandrax tablets and arrested the 44 year old suspect. Furthermore, the members executed search warrants at identified premises Riebeek West area and arrested two 35-year-old females when they found 99 transparent plastic packets containing crystal meth and 97 mandrax tablets and 29 transparent plastic packets containing crystal meth and 52.3 gram of dagga on the premises’ respectively. Both suspects face charges for dealing in drugs. The same members searched another premises and arrested a 28-year-old female for dealing in liquor without a licence. A total of 168.62 litres of liquor was confiscated.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Malmesbury Magistrates’ court once they have been charged.
