Media Statement FICKSBURG – The Safer Festive Season multidisciplinary operations continues in the eastern part of Free State with the aim of ensuring a safe environment for all law-abiding citizens through hard and soft crime prevention approach. At Ficksburg on Monday, 11 November 2024 a roadblock was conducted on the R26 Ficksburg and R707 Rosendal Roads by various government departments including office of Free State MEC for Community Safety, Roads and Transport, Mr Mbalula, Setsoto Municipality office of the Executive Mayor, Me Seipati Mbiwe, Setsoto local traffic, Provincial Traffic, South African National Defense Force and Emergency Medical Service led by Thabo Mofutsanyana District Commissioner’s office Brigadier Molefe-Mohobelo teamed up with Ficksburg SAPS and Provincial Anti-Gang Unit. During their operation the team seized illicit cigarettes, two suspects were arrested and a truck was seized, five Road Traffic Act summons were issued, 30 undocumented persons arrested, two vehicle were seized by Vehicle Crime Investigating Unit for inquiry as their engines were found to be tampered with. The operations will be conducted throughout the festive season in a bid to enhance visibility and safety awareness in our society.
