21 March 2025 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) is saddened by the passing of respected sports executive Ashwin Trikamjee.
Trikamjee passed away this week and was a prominent figure in the religious and legal communities. He also held numerous leadership roles in South African sport, including at SAFA and in the National Soccer League.
SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan mourned his passing and said the news came as a shock.
“Our sincerest condolences to former chairman of the NSL, Ashwin Trikamjee. His passing yesterday morning came as a shock,” Dr Jordaan said.
“We will remember him as a founder member of SAFA, and as part of the unity process. His contribution to the building of unity and the creation of both SAFA and the PSL will remain part of our memory. Our heartfelt condolences to the Trikamjee family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
