Russian Bear Crowns Angel Mosiamedi as the Ultimate 'King of Kicks' 2026

Russian Bear has once again thrown its weight behind Mzansi’s vibrant street scene, officially crowning Angel Mosiamedi as the King of Kicks 2026.

The high-stakes competition put a massive spotlight on South Africa’s sneaker culture, celebrating the deep-rooted individuality, creativity, and next-level energy that defines local street style.

Following weeks of intense, head-to-head sneaker knowledge challenges, on-air showdowns, and massive community engagement, the campaign culminated in a thrilling finale.

For true local sneakerheads, the right pair of kicks is never just about fashion. It is a canvas for identity, self-expression, and personal history.

King of Kicks was built to honor this exact sentiment, uniting collectors, enthusiasts, and cultural tastemakers who understand that the sneaker game is less about the price tag and more about what you represent.

Partnering with youth radio giant YFM, Russian Bear invited sneaker lovers from across the country to step up, flex their knowledge, and showcase their unique styles.

The campaign ignited a massive wave of excitement across social media and radio waves, building a passionate community bound by a shared love for street culture.

Out of thousands of entries, two distinct finalists emerged, each bringing their own unique sneaker stories and undeniable passion to the final stretch.

At the live finale, the pressure reached a boiling point.

The top two faced a series of rapid-fire challenges designed to test their deep sneaker IQ, on-stage confidence, and ability to perform under pressure.

Ultimately, Angel Mosiamedi rose to the occasion, conquering the challenges to claim the official King of Kicks 2026 title.

Mosiamedi walks away with a spectacular sneaker vault packed with rare releases, iconic silhouettes, and highly coveted grails curated in collaboration with sneaker partner.

For the newly crowned King, the victory is a profound recognition of a lifelong passion.

The battle was closely fought, and runner-up Nonkosi Paul did not walk away empty-handed, securing a fantastic R20,000 cash prize for an outstanding performance throughout the competition.

The finale wasn’t just a competition; it was an explosive celebration of South African street culture.

The event brought the community together through music and style, featuring high-octane DJ sets from industry heavyweights DJ Tshegu and DJ Sliqe.

For Russian Bear, this campaign is part of a long-term commitment to championing the spaces where local culture lives, breathes, and evolves.

“Sneaker culture has always been about more than the shoes – it’s about identity, originality and the confidence to stand out,” said Siviwe Mgolodela, Senior Brand Manager at Russian Bear.

“With King of Kicks, Russian Bear celebrates the people who live and breathe that culture, giving them a platform to showcase what makes them unique.

This year’s competition has been a powerful reminder of the passion and creativity within Mzansi’s sneaker community. Congratulations to our new King of Kicks 2026 – this is what elevating culture looks like.”

While the crown sits firmly on the head of one King, Russian Bear reminds us that the culture belongs to everyone who shapes it daily.
