Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film franchise, has said he’s unlikely to ever “step out” of the character’s shadow, but he’s fine with that. Speaking to the BBC, the 37-year-old actor said he’s proud of his association with the role and enjoys meeting fans who feel the films were part of their childhood.
Grint has had roles in films like Into the White and Apple TV series Servant, and has appeared on stage and in Ed Sheeran’s music videos. He says he’s had a “great” experience and has written a letter to Alastair Stout, who will play Ron in the upcoming TV series
The new HBO series will feature a new cast, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Alastair Stout as Ron, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione. Grint says he was “taken straight back” to when he was cast and sees “a bit of family resemblance” between himself and Stout.
When asked which Hogwarts house he’d be sorted into, Grint said: “I think I’m probably more Hufflepuff than Gryffindor. I like the vibe of Hufflepuff, I think. But Gryffindor is a close second.”
Grint’s experience with the franchise has been and “changed my whole life quite quickly.” He says he’s happy to have been a part of it and is excited to see the new series
