NORTHERN CAPE – A large amount of an assortment of alleged illicit alcohol, including Whiskey, Gin and Vodka as well as Brandy was confiscated by the Roodepan police. The value of the illicit alcohol is estimated at R91 740-00. On Thursday, 20 March 2025, members of Roodepan Shift C, were conducting a Vehicle Check Point (VCP) in Eagle Street, when they stopped the driver of a delivery vehicle. During the search, boxes of different types of unknown alcohol was found inside the truck. After investigation by the Northern Cape provincial FLASH office, it was discovered that the alcohol was illegal. The alcohol was confiscated and an enquiry was opened. Furthermore, a 27-year-old man was arrested for Contravention of Immigration laws, after it was discovered that he is in the country illegally. Members of the public are advised to refrain from indulging in unknown substances and purchasing such items as it has serious health risks and is illegal.
